Adapting to Pain and Pleasure In Our Life
You might wonder how to turn pain into pleasure. Pain can be both physical and emotional, and on some continuum, we have all experienced both (high school was a tough time). However, like most things over time we can become accustomed to or adapt to pain and pleasure in our life and learn to live with them making sacrifices to accommodate them.
But do we really need to sacrifice quality of life to accommodate pain that serves no purpose?
How long do you leave a pebble in your shoe before you take your shoe off and remove it? Yes, you could just deal with it, not complain and remain uncomfortable. Or you could slow down, stop, acknowledge the cause of the pain, recognize the discomfort and take action to remove it. The 60 seconds it took to achieve this improved the remainder of your day… no brainer right?
Now amplify this soft analogy to identify a bigger pain……does it make sense to spend 6-12 months addressing a major pain in your life to improve the quality of the next 30, 40, 50 years?
You Don’t Have to Live A Life of Pain
I speak to clients on a daily basis with physical pain, lower back, old injuries, aching bones, etc. and many others with emotional traumas that they push away and try to ignore at the expense of their happiness
MADNESS!!
Whether you are one of the 80% of Americans who suffer from back pain or one of the estimated 160 million Americans who are either overweight or obese…
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE A LIFE OF DISCOMFORT AND PAIN!
I do not have all the answers but I do know that appeasement is not a solution for improving quality of life and happiness when viable and realistic solutions are available, and if I need to emphasize this again. The process does require you to invest time, money, effort AND it is not an easy road. You have to decide whether there is value in the outcome. But, I can tell you that I have never met a client who set out to achieve their goal and then regretted it!
Here are some SUPER helpful videos from coach Patrick Jennings to get started.
